Why ?????????

When i park up for the night and i have less than 1/4 tank (unleaded) my S80 will not start. But if i put 2 litres in then away she goes. Ive had it in 2 garages and both said "dont know". Ican drive it untill empty but as i say when i park overnight it just gives up the ghost. If i have more than 1/4 it goes ok in the mornin first time. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP. Also my emisions light came on yesterday whay are the reasons for this any way i can check these. Also where can i get a bracket for the middle of my exhaust as its rusted off . Could this be a reason for the emissions light coming on

you can get a good stainless repair bracket from the volvo dealer . there is probably something wrong with the fuel tank pump assembly , its quite complex and sold as one part . The ECU can tell if this is the problem in some cases and post a relavent code .

Or was it meant in relation to the ecu. Do i have to go to a volvo dealer to get this sorted or will my local garage do. Sorry for the ignorance, Im no car buff, just like volvos.

no not at all . :-) The ECU will record a fault code in some cases if the float in the left tank doesnt go down faster than the float in the right side of the tank ...

Whatever you do dont go to your local garage , unless they have experience working on the Volvo fuel system they would be more likely to cause more damage than you already have , go to a main dealer or in Glasgow I have used Volvomax , they are an independant but at least they specialise in Volvos and in my view you can trust them . If you feel like having a go yourself have a look at the posts on fuel pump , unless you enjoy a challenge and like pulling things apart then dont go down this route .
