lost file association?

MessageAuthor

i had some scratch demo tracks saved in a project folder, using reaper v2.53. i updated some amplitube software (x-gear) and reaper seemed to be having trouble recognizing x-gear. so, i went to close reaper and it asked me to "save current project", to which i said yes. i fixed the location of the x-gear .dll and reopened reaper only to find that the demo project did not load automatically, as it normally loads the previously closed session. now, i can locate three files from the demo project (one is a RPP-NEWTEMP file, one is a reaper peaks file (.wav) and one is a microsoft waves format file). i can not get them to open in reaper when i try to open an existing project. the folder is there, but reaper says "no items match your search" when trying to open the project. anyone have any ideas as to why this happened and how to reverse? thanks

RE: lost file association?

hi. thanks for the reply. i did put in the pathway to save the files and have the RPP and other files there. the same thing happens. when i go into reaper to open an existing project, i see several folders with projects in them and a number of non-folder, old scratch tracks, etc. if i hover the mouse over the project folders, it tells me there are, say 164mb of data in the folder but if i go into the folder, it says "no items match your search", under files of type "all supported projects". if i try to open up one of the non-folder, scratch tracks, they open fine in reaper. just nothing from the saved-in-a-folder projects will open. arghh!

RE: lost file association?

I'm confused. Are you saying that Reaper can't see RPP files in the subfolders but it can in the top folder? Can you see RPP files using Explorer in the subfolders? The first post sounds like Reaper crashed before it had a chance to save the actual RPP. Whenever odd things start to happen I recommend moving the Reaper user folder to a safe location (or make a backup of it first and then delete it), that's [XP] C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\REAPER [Vista] C:\USERS\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Reaper and re-installing Reaper.
