velocity editing - like a compressor?

MessageAuthor

thats perfect, thats exactly what i was looking for. now that i think about it, i should have been able to come up with that. i know it wont sound like a compressor, ill use a compressor for that, but i just wanted to squish the dynamic range a little bit before i hit any compressors, thanks!

Yes, I think 6.x only lets you select notes based on pitch criterion. If you'd only include some info about which version you're currently using when you post questions... Anyway, check out MIDI operations > change velocity. If memory serves, that's the way to go for you.
