MOT Advice

Hello all, Just a few questions regarding a 440 (1996) on behalf of a friend of mine. After passing the MOT the garage came up with some advice on items which need to be corrected. The following items came up; -Nearside front upper (rear) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated. -Offside front lower (rear) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated. Could somebody supply me with a picture. As we are not sure if the garage means the front suspension and than the rear bush or means the rear suspension arm. Are these bushes easily replaced by a DIY mechanic or is this a garage job? Thanks, FT

MOT advisories 

My advice would be to go back where the car was tested and ask the tester to point out the advisories listed. The choice of advisory phrases on the MOT computer device are usually a bit limited and ambiguous. Paul.

Thanks PC654, This was indeed a good solution to the problem. Car has been to the garage today to inform which bushes are deteriorating. According to garage they are just advisory items and don't need to be replaced at this moment. However i got me thinking. My experience when the garage has some advisory items after the MOT than they could present a problem at the next MOT. i.e. they are in limits this time but could be out of limits next time. If you got something like this on the MOT advisory form would you replace the part as a precaution or would you wait till the next MOT? Regards, FT

repair 

i would repair the item listed on the advisory, not only for piece of mind, but, the item on the advisory will show up on the next test, so the tester will scrutinise it even closer. paul
